Community Verdict (qualitative)
The 976 is frequently cited as the Thetford 365's main US rival — owners point to the battery-free push-button flush and the pivoting spout as practical advantages. Beyond that positioning, no sampled owner consensus was retrievable in this pass; the verdict above is qualitative, not scored.
Care
- Use RV/portable-toilet holding-tank chemicals; never household bleach.
- Empty at an approved dump station; rinse both tanks after each trip.
- Store dry with valves open.
Buying Traps
- Weight conflict: Sources list both 13 lb and 14 lb. Use 14 lb for planning until Dometic's official figure is confirmed.
- Tank sizes: The 5 gal / 2.5 gal split gives fewer flushes per fresh fill than larger fresh tanks — carry extra flush water on longer trips.
Additional Voices
- No direct owner quotes were retrievable in this pass.

Comparisons
thetford-porta-potti-365(this round): Near-identical tank sizes; Thetford uses a piston pump + level indicator, Dometic a battery-free push-button flush + pivoting spout. Thetford has the deeper EU dealer network; Dometic the stronger US RV-channel presence.camco-41541-portable-toilet(this round): Camco is cheaper (~$136–165) with a bellows flush; the 976's push-button flush and 27-flush rating are its advantages.thetford-porta-potti-345(existing): The 345 is the smaller Thetford; the 976 matches the 365's size class with different flush mechanics.
