Kurgo Wander Hammock (Rover Wander Hammock)

Published · Researched 2026-09-21

Item

  • Name: Kurgo Wander Hammock (current retail branding: Rover Wander Hammock)
  • Category: Seat covers (backseat hammock)
  • Selected variant: Black / Charcoal — ~$69.95–$99.99 USD observed (2026-09-20)

Model lineage

  • ~2017–2019 — Kurgo Wander Hammock launch (K00030 etc.).
  • ~2021–2023 — Wander Coast to Coast (POG30-17901, 55"W x 93"L, $129.99 MSRP) added as the extended-width floor-covering sibling; standard Wander continues at 55"W x 56"L.
  • 2024–2025 — Rebranded/refresh as "Rover Wander Hammock"; retailer (King Dukes) notes the new Rover production does not have the brown strip trim of legacy units. Official product photography still circulates the legacy brown-strip colorway — all images in this dossier show the legacy trim. Current listing data confirms 8 attachment points; some older listings cite 6 — the discrepancy is recorded, not resolved.
  • Price drift: MSRP-era pricing ~$129.99 (Coast to Coast) vs standard Wander retail $69.95–$99.99 in 2026.

Core data (observed 2026-09-20)

  • Size: 55" W x 56" L standard; Extended Width 63" W x 56" L for full-size trucks/large SUVs.
  • Attachment points: 8 (current listings; older copy says 6 — UNVERIFIED which is current) — under-seat paracord, headrest straps.
  • Center zipper: fold down half the hammock to accommodate a human passenger.
  • Seatbelt access: hook-and-loop openings for seatbelts and child-car-seat latches.
  • Anti-slip/anchoring: Kurgo Bench Beans™ anchor the cover in place.
  • Hammock ↔ bench: remove front headrest straps to use as a simple bench seat cover.
  • Fabric: waterproof and stain-resistant; heavy-stitched reinforced seams (claw-resistant); some variants include rigid plastic tubes that tuck into the seat crevice for hold.
  • Care: machine washable (cold, mild, gentle); one variant line says spot-clean/hand-wash, air dry — record both, model-dependent — UNVERIFIED which applies to current Rover.
  • Extras: carrying bag included (per UK/Desertcart listings — UNVERIFIED as standard in US retail).
  • Not for: bucket seats or open floor space — requires a bench seat underneath.
  • Warranty: not captured on this pass — UNVERIFIED — 2026-09-20.

Why it fits camping

  • Eight anchor points + under-seat paracord: stays planted on washboard forest roads where loose hammocks shift.
  • Center zipper: human + dog share the back seat on the drive to camp — flexibility generic hammocks lack.
  • Blocks front-seat access: keeps an excited dog off the driver's lap on bumpy tracks.
  • Trade-offs: no mesh window (vs Dirtbag); legacy colorways only in photography; care instructions vary by listing — confirm on box.

Community pulse

  • Source coverage: retailer spec pages (King Dukes, critterspet, chaar.us, mrpets), product datasheets (rewardsproducts POG30-17901). Public Facebook group posts not indexed via available search — qualitative only.
  • Qualitative read: the long-standing budget/midrange hammock pick; "durable, waterproof barrier" language repeats across retailers. Known limitation: sizing — owners of full-size trucks need the Extended Width.
  • Sentiment: positive; value-priced.

Price signal (2026-09-20)

  • $69.95–$99.99 USD standard; $129.99 MSRP (Coast to Coast datasheet); £59.20–£77.99 UK; $114.95 CAD.

Lineage note: All six earlier legacy brown-strip images were culled 2026-09-20 and replaced with current "Rover Wander Hammock" imagery (no brown strip, teal accent): Black studio + lifestyle, Charcoal studio + lifestyle, Charcoal extended-width packaging. -1 depicts the Extended Width Rover (63"x56", kurgo.com) — same Rover design generation; standard-width Rover studio imagery was not located. Only 5 verifiable no-strip Rover images were located; -6 is an intentional honest gap.
